As a Christian the best devotional you can ever have is a daily study of God’s word. Chapter by Chapter study of His word. To understand God’s you must read the whole bible without excluding any part. Devotions also play a role in growing our faith because they apply God’s word to our present day circumstances. This August let your relationship with God grow deeper. We have put together devotions that will provoke how you interpret scripture.

Devotional topic: Where to do turn to when you get a bad report?
2 Chronicles 20: 2-3
Some people came and told Jehoshaphat, “A vast army is coming against you from Edom, from the other side of the Dead Sea. It is already in Hazezon Tamar” (that is, En Gedi). 3 Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah.
Bad news has a way of arriving when we least expect it. It may come through a doctor’s diagnosis, the loss of a job, disappointing exam results, financial hardship, or unexpected family challenges. Our first reaction is often fear, anxiety, or even panic.
King Jehoshaphat experienced something similar. He was told that a large army was marching against Judah. The threat was real, and the situation looked impossible. The Bible tells us that he was alarmed. However he did not allow fear to dictate his response. Instead, he made a deliberate decision to seek God.
Notice that the Bible does not condemn Jehoshaphat for feeling afraid. Fear is a natural human emotion. What distinguished him was what he did after the fear came. He never looked at his Judah’s military strength or political alliances, he humbled himself before God, proclaimed a fast, and called the nation to pray.
Many our life’s battles cannot be won through human wisdom alone. Some situations require God’s intervention. Before rushing to making decisions driven by fear, pause and seek the Lord. God often provides wisdom, peace, and direction that we cannot find anywhere else.
Whatever bad report you may have received today, remember that no report is greater than God’s promises. The same God who fought for Jehoshaphat is still able to fight your battles.
Reflection:
When difficult news reaches you, what is usually your first response—panic, worry, or prayer?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for being a good God. Lord I ask when bad news comes my way, help me to turn to You first instead of allowing fear to control my heart. Give me wisdom and faith to trust that You are working even when I cannot see the outcome. Fight the battles I cannot fight on my own, and let Your peace guard my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Devotional topic: Man vs a Sparrow
Matthew 6:24-25
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Jesus used one of the simplest lessons in nature to teach one of the deepest truths about God’s care. Birds do not own barns, build savings accounts, or worry about tomorrow, yet God faithfully provides for them every day.
If God pays such careful attention to sparrows, how much more does He care for you?
As human beings we are created in the image of God. We are the objects of His redeeming love, so precious that Christ gave His life for us. Our value is not measured by our possessions, achievements, or social status—it is established by God’s love.
When we worry we often end up feeling alone, forgotten, or carry every burden ourselves. Faith reminds us that our heavenly Father knows exactly what we need before we ask.
This does not mean we stop working or planning responsibly. Rather, it means we work diligently while trusting God to provide what we cannot control. Anxiety drains today’s strength without changing tomorrow’s circumstances.
The next time worry begins to overwhelm you, look at the birds. Let them remind you that your heavenly Father has never forgotten His creation, even the smallest sparrow.
Reflection:
What worries are preventing you from trusting God’s faithful care today?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for reminding me that I am valuable in Your sight. Help me to release my worries and trust Your loving provision. Teach me to depend on You each day, knowing that You care for every detail of my life. Fill my heart with peace instead of anxiety. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
