Short Christian Testimonies

God Gave a Second Chance To Her Son.

One evening my son developed a fever that could not be managed at home, so I decided to take him to the nearest hospital. As we were waiting to see the doctors, a woman entered the casualty room carrying her son. She was distressed and crying. Her son was unconscious. The boy was carried off by a nurse and the doctors on duty rushed to attend to him. The mother started to pray out aloud. “Lord please remember your servant, be merciful to me and remember one small thing I have ever done to glorify your name……. After sometime a nurse came and told her, “we are trying everything to save his life but the situation does not look good. The woman could not accept any of these words, she knelt down, prayed and prayed. From her prayers you could tell she had a close relationship with God. She begged Him to spare her son’s life. Miraculously after 30 minutes another nurse came, “Mum your son was unresponsive for nearly 10 minutes, just as the doctors were about to give up suddenly, he woke up. We can clearly say it is a miracle.” The woman was overjoyed, she rushed to see her son. Eventually we got to see the doctor, and we returned home. But the scene in that hospital made me realize we still serve a God who does miracles. That woman’s prayer was filled with faith and lots of scriptures. Indeed, when we base our prayer on God’s words, we portray the confidence we have in His promises. Anonymous

A Miracle Provision: How God Cleared a $150,000 Bill

The saddest news in my life came in when my teenage daughter was diagnosed with liver cancer. I turned to God with lots of questions, “why my daughter?” “Was I not a good Christian?” and many more. Nothing looked the same again. Even in this storm, I could hear God’s voice telling me “Be still and know that I am God”. I wondered how I would be still when my daughter had liver cancer. The following months we were in and out of hospital, check-up after check-up. Finally, the doctors advised us to seek treatment in a country with more advanced equipment. By now my medical cover was nearly exhausted, friends and family supported me greatly. As I assessed my situation I knew sooner or later I would be out of funds. I didn’t know where to turn, but I knew God was with me. Finally, my two daughters and myself arrived in India nearly two months after the first diagnosis. I had to travel with my other daughter because she would be the one to donate a portion of her liver. We settled into an affordable hotel near the hospital where we would seek treatment. On the following Sunday, after we had settled down, I decided to visit a nearby church. Interestingly, I was the only African in the congregation. I was warmly welcomed and when given the opportunity to greet the congregation I mentioned I was in the country because I was seeking medical treatment for my daughter. God works in strange ways  we can never expect. The senior oncologist at the hospital where was seeking treatment was a member of that church. Through her, God opened doors.  First, she offered to host us in her home for the whole duration we stayed in India. Secondly, she opened a fundraising forum that raised nearly $150,000 that catered for all the treatment. The surgeries were successful. I truly saw the hand of God. I felt forever indebted to God for all He did, but He always reminded me I am His child and there is nothing too big or too small in His eyes. Today my daughters are okay, both married and in fact the one who had cancer was blessed with twins.  One day, thinking of the goodness of God, I asked Him a question. What should I do to express my sincere gratitude? Then God reminded me of the times I would visit the orphans. I would often do it without knowing that God was watching. I cannot say that is the reason why I encountered my miracle, but I know what God says in Proverbs 19:17 “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.” God is faithful, He has never failed anyone. Let’s continue to serve Him in the best way we can. Naomi
